5G/LTE System Engineer

Celona is seeking seasoned 5G/LTE System Engineer who will play a critical role in the design, deployment, optimization, and troubleshooting of private 5G and LTE solutions for enterprise environments. This position involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, product management, and customer support, to deliver cutting-edge wireless networking solutions tailored to customer needs.

The ideal candidate must be onsite at our Campbell. CA Headquarters

Key Responsibilities:

• System Design and Architecture:
• Contribute to the design and validation of Celona’s 5G RAN and core network architecture.
• Collaborate on system-level integration and testing of 5G/LTE components, including RAN, core, and edge computing elements.
• Deployment and Configuration:
• Assist in deploying private 5G/LTE networks, ensuring seamless integration with existing enterprise IT infrastructure.
• Configure and manage network functions such as AMF, SMF, UPF, and gNB/eNB for optimal performance.
• Optimization and Performance Analysis:
• Monitor and analyze network performance metrics (e.g., throughput, latency, jitter) with packet captures and log analysis with actual field deployments
• Implement optimization strategies, including tuning parameters like handover thresholds, scheduling algorithms, and QoS policies.
• Troubleshooting and Support:
• Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for debugging and resolving complex network issues.
• Provide advanced technical support to customers during deployment and operation.
• Documentation and Reporting:
• Generate technical documentation, including deployment guides, system configurations, and test plans.
• Present system performance results and recommendations to internal teams and customers.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience:
• 5+ years of experience in LTE/5G system design, testing, or deployment.
• Hands-on experience with 3GPP protocols, including RAN, NAS, RRC, and S1AP/N2AP.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in working with private LTE/5G networks, including core and RAN components.
• Strong understanding of virtualization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-native architecture.
• Experience with RF planning, spectrum analysis, and interference mitigation.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with CBRS (Citizens Broadband Radio Service) and PAL/GAA spectrum management.
• Knowledge of enterprise IT networking (e.g., VLANs, SD-WAN, firewalls).
• Familiarity with network security principles and best practices, including IPsec and TLS.

Compensation for this role is between $140,000 - $165,000, depending on your location, job-related skills, and experience.
